The Swiss women finished the round robin in second place with six wins and three defeats. The Swedes (8 wins/1 defeat) are also in the knockout round, as are Scotland (5/4) and Norway (5/4).

Celine Schwizgebel, Stephanie Berset, Marina Loertscher and Corrie Hürlimann showed nerves of steel at their first major international event in Lohja by overcoming a weak start in the decisive game against the top team from Norway. First, they had two stones stolen in the fourth end, and in the game after that they didn't get the best out of it either with just one point. The game turned around from the halfway point: the Swiss scored twice and won the right to play the last stone in the extra end. There, Corrie Hürlimann easily placed the winning stone in the center of the almost empty house.

In the afternoon, the Swiss men will also play for a place in the semi-finals. Their opponents are also Norway.
