The 19-year-old Prevc improved the previous record set by Norwegian Silje Opseth last year at the same venue by 5.5 meters. The other competitors did not even come close to Prevc's distances.

The women will be competing in their only two ski flying competitions of the World Cup season on Saturday and Sunday in Vikersund. The men will also be competing on the Norwegian ski jump this weekend. The world record of 253.5 m has been held by Austria's Stefan Kraft since 2017.
