Smith and Galli had already fought an exciting duel in the final the day before. The Swiss rider, who had narrowly escaped a fall at the start, came out on top this time. While the 29-year-old Galli celebrated her second World Cup victory, Smith achieved her 80th individual podium finish of her career.

The overall World Cup leader India Sherret from Canada had to settle for fifth place after being caught by two rivals in the semi-final over the last few meters. Talina Gantenbein finished eighth and Anna Dietrich narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals.

In the men's event, the Swiss did not finish on the podium. Olympic champion Ryan Regez improved by one place compared to 5th place on Friday. The 32-year-old from Bern was left behind early on in the final, fought his way back but was unable to make up any places and finished fourth.

Romain Détraz achieved his best result of the season in 6th place, with Alex Fiva right behind him. Tobias Baur, who was the only Swiss to reach the final on Friday and finished fourth, got stuck in the quarter-finals.
