Fanny Smith had everything under control at the end of the season

Fanny Smith crowns her great season with a victory at the World Cup in Idre Fjäll in the last race of the winter. With Talina Gantenbein in third place, a second Swiss woman made it onto the podium.
On Saturday, Smith secured her fourth triumph in the overall World Cup with 3rd place in the first race in Sweden. Now she managed the perfect finish with her fourth win of the season. In the final, she came out on top ahead of Canadian Courtney Hoffos and compatriot Talina Gantenbein, having already crossed the finish line first in the quarter and semi-finals.
After a difficult last season with ankle and thumb injuries, Smith's performances this winter are all the more impressive. The 32-year-old from Vaud has made it onto the podium in eleven of the 17 races this season. This was her 84th time in an individual race in the World Cup, and her 35th time at the top.
For 26-year-old Gantenbein from Graubünden, it was her second top-three finish at this level this season after finishing second in San Candido in December and her eighth overall.
In the men's event, only world champion Ryan Regez made it through to the semi-finals, where, as in the small final, he had no chance. He finished the season in 8th place.
Marc Bischofberger was eliminated in the round of 16 in his last ever race and did not make it past last place. The 34-year-old from Appenzell can look back on a successful career. He won Olympic silver in Pyeongchang in 2018. He has stood on the podium nine times in the World Cup, four times at the top - the last time on February 23, 2020 in Sunny Valley.
The final race of the season started more than three hours late due to fog and a tailwind in the lower part of the course.
