Stefan Küng is switching from Groupama-FDJ to the Swiss team Tudor for the coming season as planned. The rider from Thurgau will sign a three-year contract with Fabian Cancellara's team.
This was announced by the 31-year-old's future employer on Tuesday.
"As a Swiss rider, I followed the Tudor project closely and was really impressed by the mentality and development," Küng is quoted as saying in the Tudor press release. Innovation and research/development are at the heart of the team and this environment could take him to the next level, especially on the time trial bike, according to the multiple Swiss champion and European time trial champion.
Küng, who feels particularly at home in Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, will lead Tudor as the sole leader in his favorite races: "I'm still missing a big classic in my palmarès, and that's something I really want to achieve," emphasizes Küng, who will put himself at the service of Marc Hirschi or Julian Alaphilippe in the Ardennes classics.
