Steve Guerdat narrowly misses out on victory in the Dinard Grand Prix. Only the last rider in the jump-off overtakes the man from Jura.
Steve Guerdat rode to second place in the Grand Prix in Dinard, France, in the saddle on Venard. The 42-year-old was only beaten in the jump-off by local rider Kevin Staut. Guerdat secured 100,000 euros in prize money in the 500,000 euro competition.
Six pairs completed the course without faults and made it into the jump-off, which the rider from Jura was able to open. And the 42.44 seconds with which he crossed the finish line on his French gelding Venard de Cerisy seemed for a long time to be the winning time. But Staut was able to beat Guerdat's mark by just under a second, snatching victory away from the Swiss rider.
The European champion Guerdat will be chasing gold at the Olympic Games with Dynamix.
