The 2024 Motorcycle World Championship season finale will not take place in Valencia as planned. The extent of the flood disaster in eastern Spain means that no races can be held in two weeks.
It is still unclear where the last Grand Prix of the year will take place on November 17. MotoGP rights holder Dorna is currently examining alternatives. Lusail in Qatar, Portimão in Portugal, Jerez in the south of Spain and Barcelona in the north of Spain are said to be under discussion.
In a statement, Dorna also promised to support the Valencia region, which was hit hard by the storm, with the help of existing aid funds. The official death toll stood at 160 on Friday morning, but forecasts put the figure much higher, with countless people still missing.
The MotoGP title has not yet been decided. Ahead of the penultimate race of the season in Malaysia on Sunday, Spanish Ducati rider Jorge Martin leads by 17 points ahead of his brand colleague and defending champion Francesco Bagnaia.
