At the 150th anniversary of Milan-Turin, the oldest one-day race in the world, Tom Pidcock from the Swiss team Pinarello Q36.5 emerged victorious.
The two-time Olympic mountain bike champion came out on top as a soloist on the 174 km route from the Milan suburb of Rho to the Superga pilgrimage church above Turin. Four seconds behind the Briton, the Norwegian Tobias Halland Johannessen finished second, followed by the Slovenian Primoz Roglic, who came third. The best Swiss rider was Jan Christen in 11th place, 44 seconds behind.
With his second win of the season, Pidcock proved that he is ready for the spring classic Milan-Sanremo on Saturday. There, the Slovenian high-flyer Tadej Pogacar will once again try to win the first of the five monuments of the year for the first time.
