Swiss aces present themselves at international level

The athlete from Bern won in 7.80 seconds and came close to her season's best. As number 2 on the annual world best list and European indoor record holder (7.67), she will travel confidently to the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, from March 20 to 22. She is one of the medal contenders there.

In the slipstream of Ditaji Kambundji, Annik Kälin took advantage of the fast pace and also beat the World Championships limit in 7.93 seconds. The heptathlete from Landquart is likely to focus on the long jump at the title fights.

Joseph ran a determined race and won in 7.50 seconds. The Swiss record holder distanced Simon Ehammer by five hundredths. Ehammer set his personal best time of 7.55 seconds and secured his third medal of the weekend after gold in the long jump and silver in the pole vault. However, Ehammer is only planning to compete in the all-around at the World Indoor Championships, as Swiss Athletics announced. And according to the Platz interview, Joseph is foregoing a start in Poland and is focusing on preparing for the outdoor season.

Audrey Werro took the initiative early in the women's 800m. The athlete from Fribourg dictated the pace and won confidently in 1:57.98 minutes. Valentina Rosamilia from Aargau secured second place with a strong final sprint and thus the second Swiss World Championship starting place. In 1:59.81 minutes, she set a personal indoor best and relegated Lore Hoffmann to 3rd place.

Angelica Moser from Zurich started the indoor season after recovering from a foot injury and hamstring strain. The European pole vault champion jumped 4.66 m and raised hopes of participating in the World Championships.
