Bitter disappointment for Swiss alpine snowboarders Dario Caviezel and Julie Zogg at the Freestyle World Championships in the Engadine. They came 4th in the mixed team competition after a dramatic finish.

Although Dario Caviezel and Julie Zogg, third in the qualification, won the semi-final against the Italian duo Gabriel Messner/Jasmin Coratti, the two Swiss were disqualified because Caviezel had not passed a gate correctly.

In the small final against the Austrians Andreas Prommegger and Sabine Payer, they then lost out by six hundredths. Caviezel had lost 52 hundredths to Prommegger, whereupon it initially looked as if Zogg would still take bronze before her final turns didn't go as planned. "It's super tough and fits in with this World Championships. Happiness and suffering are so close together in sport, and unfortunately we had more suffering here with three 4th places," Zogg told Swiss television.

She was referring to the 4th places of Dario Caviezel and his wife Ladina in the parallel giant slalom, in which Zogg also came 5th in the parallel slalom. She was the defending champion in the second discipline.

Gold in the mixed team competition went to the Italians Maurizio Bormolini and Elisa Caffont. Switzerland 2 with Gian Casanova and Flurina Neva Bätschi were disqualified in the qualification.
