The two teams will therefore also play each other in the semi-finals. Sweden and Canada meet in the other medal match.

Unlike the USA, the Swiss were not playing for semi-final qualification in this match - they already had that for sure. The main aim was to recharge their batteries for the decisive games for the medals after a rest day with a win. That failed for long stretches. The third defeat came in the ninth round robin game.

Selina Witschonke, Carole Howald, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Pätz made a few too many small mistakes. They missed a deuce in the third end and only scored one point. And in the fifth end, the USA even stole a stone. After taking a 3:1 lead at half-time and the right to the last stone, the Americans did not let the butter be taken off their bread - at least until the tenth end.

In the tenth end, the Swiss managed to hit a house of three out of nowhere to make it 6-6. In the extra end, the USA had the last stone and only used it after a millimetre decision. Despite the defeat, the Swiss players left the match with the better feeling.

The semi-finals will be played on Friday afternoon from 2.05 pm.
