Swiss eventers remain without a medal

The starting position was promising. Before the third and final day, the Swiss team of Felix Vogg, Robin Godel and Mélody Johner were on course for a medal. In the end, however, the 7.6-point margin over Belgium and the 11.4 points over Japan were not enough.

Final rider Felix Vogg on Dao de l'Ocean came through with just one down. However, after starting rider Mélody Johner on Toubleu de Rueire (8.8 penalty points) and Robin Godel on Grandeur de Lully (13.2), the deficit was too great. In the end, they were 12.6 points short of third place, which was secured by Japan. The Asians went into the final day in fifth place, as they had to bring on a substitute rider and received 20 penalty points for this.

Great Britain won, as they did three years ago in Tokyo. Silver went to the hosts France, 12.3 points behind.

Felix Vogg will have another chance to win precious metal in the singles from 15:00. The 34-year-old is in 6th place, three points behind third-placed Laura Collett from Great Britain.
