However, the start to the second half was a complete failure. It took five and a half minutes for Switzerland to score their first goal, too many technical errors crept in and too many good chances were missed. As a result, they were unable to challenge the Dutch until the end, even though they no longer played with the utmost consistency. The Swiss team never got closer than two goals behind.

The defeat is not a disaster for the Swiss on their way to the European Championship finals in five different countries in December. They clearly won their first two matches against Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina, and if they are also successful in the "return matches" against these two opponents in April, they will defend second place in the group, which will certainly be enough to qualify.
