The Swiss U20 national team qualifies for the quarterfinals of the Ice Hockey Junior World Championship in St. Paul (USA) with a 4-0 win over Germany.
The Swiss will finish the preliminary round against Slovakia on Wednesday.
The game against Germany was one-sided: the Swiss shot on goal much more often than the Germans (47:20 shots). Kimi Körbler put Switzerland ahead after twelve minutes and scored two goals. Jamiro Reber and defender Ludvig Johnson also scored. Goalie Kristian Kirsch recorded a shutout with 20 saves.
The last preliminary round game against Slovakia will be for third place. The winner of the game will secure third place and would thus avoid the group winner of the second round in the quarter-finals on January 2.
