Johannes Hösflot Klaebo lives up to his role as favorite in the 15 km classic mass start race. The Norwegian wins the second stage of the Tour de Ski in Toblach.
The exceptional skier easily held off three teammates on the home straight to complete a quadruple victory for the Norwegians.
The Swiss men put in a good performance overall. Although there was no top place, Jason Rüesch (18th), Beda Klee (21st) and Jonas Baumann (22nd) did not let themselves be shaken off and finished just over ten seconds behind. Cyril Fähndrich would also have finished with this group had he not fallen and broken his pole. However, the sprinters Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond, third and fifth the day before, conceded over two minutes.
After his two victories at the weekend, Klaebo leads the overall standings by over half a minute. Whether he can continue to keep them at bay is questionable. On Tuesday and Wednesday in the individual race over 20 km skating and in the pursuit over 15 km classic, other Norwegians have better cards.
