Switzerland lost 3-0 to world champions the Czech Republic at the end of the Euro Hockey Tour in Stockholm, ending the tournament with one win and two defeats.
The Swiss put in their weakest performance of the tournament, which was also due to the fact that Calvin Thürkauf and Christoph Bertschy, two of the few experienced players in the team, were rested. Thanks to the strong goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann, they were still able to hope for a positive result until the end. He was only beaten by Lubos Horky in the 28th minute. The 2:0 (59') and 3:0 (60') by Michal Kunc and Radim Zohorna, who plays for Lugano, were shots into the empty net.
However, with the score at 0:1, it was not as if the equalizer was in the air, as the Swiss were not consistent enough. In addition, the few good chances they had were once again lacking in cold blood. Justin Sigrist, for example, failed to beat Czech keeper Josef Korenar from close range in the 48th minute. As a result, the Swiss remained without a goal, as they had already done on Thursday in Langnau against Finland (0:1 n.p.). Nicolas Baechler scored the only goal of the tournament in regulation time to tie Sweden 1:1 (2:1 n.v.). It was the fourth defeat in a row against the Czechs.
