The Swiss men win and lose once each at the European Curling Championships on Sunday. The women lose their first game in their only match of the day.
The Swiss men react to their defeat in the second round match at the European Curling Championships in Lohja, Finland, on Sunday morning. In the second game of the day, the team led by skip Yannick Schwaller secured their second win in the third game against Poland.
The preliminary decision was made by a mistake on the part of the Poles in the third end. A failed last stone gave the Swiss a surprising 4:1 lead. The Poles, who had won their first two games at the European Championships, were unable to respond and Switzerland won 9:3 in eight ends.
In the first game of the day against Germany, however, Switzerland were on the defensive for the entire game and ultimately lost 6:8. Even when they equalized the score at 5:5 with a house of four, they were unable to capitalize on the momentum. They then conceded a point twice, even though they had the last stone.
Like the men, the Swiss women also suffered their first defeat at the European Championships on Sunday. They were clearly defeated by Lithuania 5:10, with the ninth end being decisive, in which Lithuania managed to pull two points ahead. The Swiss women around skip Corrie Hürlimann then failed to equalize the score at 7:7 and force an extra end.
