In their final group matches, Heidrich/Dillier failed to win a set against Italian duo Samuele Cottafava/Paolo Nicolai (15:21, 20:22) and Krattiger/Breer against Poland's Bartosz Losiak/Michal Bryl (15:21, 14:21).
Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré, who have been selected for the Olympic Games, have already reached the quarter-finals after winning their group three times. After the Brazilian teams Ana Patricia/Duda and Carol/Barbara, Esmée/Zoé also won their preliminary round match against the Spaniards Alvarez/Moreno (21:16, 19:21, 23:21).
Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Joana Mäder must reach the last eight via the round of 16. The team, which was not considered for the Olympics, finished the preliminary round with two wins in second place behind the Canadian duo Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson.
