The transfers of Clint Capela and Kevin Durant to Houston are complete. No fewer than seven teams are involved in the transfer deal - a record in the history of the NBA.

Durant's move from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets was approved by the NBA as part of a transaction between seven teams. Also involved are the Atlanta Hawks, who are letting Clint Capela move to the Rockets, as well as the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Golden State Warriors, the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers. It is a return for the 31-year-old Geneva-born Capela, who has been with the Atlanta Hawks since 2020. He had played for the franchise from Texas for six years until 2020.

A total of 13 players are affected by the NBA's most comprehensive swap deal. In addition to Capela, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks are among those moving from the Rockets to the Suns in return for Durant. In addition, there will be at least five second-round picks for the draft. Both the Hawks and Timberwolves are expected to receive financial compensation to make the math work out.

The 36-year-old Durant played for the Suns the past three years and never had the playoff success the team hoped for. The Rockets were the second-best team in the Western Conference last season, but fell to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. For four-time Olympic champion Durant, the Rockets are the fifth NBA team after the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Warriors, the Brooklyn Nets and the Suns.
