The Helvetic Mercenaries, the Swiss representation in the European American Football League ELF, have signed a former NFL player. Pass receiver Keelan Cole joins the "mercenaries".
Cole played six seasons in the American National Football League and made 93 appearances between 2017 and 2022. The wide receiver played four seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars and one each for the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders. He scored a total of 14 touchdowns.
The 31-year-old joins the Mercenaries as a player, but also as a mentor, as the club writes. He will help to establish the Swiss organization at European level.
Switzerland was initially represented in the European League of Football by the Helvetic Guards. They ceased playing after just one season and were renamed the Helvetic Mercenaries under new management. Last year, the first season under the new name, they only managed one win in twelve games. The upcoming season for the Mercenaries begins on May 18.
