At the Track Cycling World Championships in Santiago de Chile, the Swiss men's foursome finishes the team pursuit in 7th place.
In the main round of the team pursuit, Noah Bögli, Mats Poot, Pascal Tappeiner and Alex Vogel covered the 4000 m in 3:50.076 minutes. The quartet was beaten by the USA selection by 1.5 seconds and missed out on the small final by 1.1 seconds. However, the team managed to improve on their qualifying time by almost two seconds. Luca Bühlmann was used instead of Tappeiner in the qualification.
National coach Julien Bossens was satisfied with the performance and in particular the improvement. "It was a good assessment. We saw that the difference to traditionally strong nations such as Germany and New Zealand is small - and we also know that we still have room for improvement."
In the women's scratch competition, Lorena Leu from Uri finished 11th, triumphing over Lorena Wiebes from the Netherlands, the most successful female road sprinter of our time.
