The Swiss women remain on course at the World Curling Championships in Calgary. The team led by skip Xenia Schwaller defeated Turkey 8:5 on Tuesday night and celebrated their fourth win in their fifth game.
Xenia Schwaller, Selina Rychiger, Fabienne Rieder and Selina Gafner ensured the early decision with a deuce in the 9th end. The Turks, who, like the Swiss, now have four wins and one defeat, decided to shake hands after trailing by three points.
The young team from Zurich only got into trouble at the start of the game. The Turks stole a stone in the 3rd end to take a 2:1 lead. The players around Xenia Schwaller immediately found the right answer with a house of three.
The debutants from Grasshopper Club will be in action a second time on Tuesday in Calgary. They will play the Danes at 9 p.m. Swiss time.
