The Swiss women's national ice hockey team loses its second game at the Women's Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten. A 4:3 defeat against the Czech Republic after a penalty shoot-out.
One day after the convincing 4:0 opening win against Sweden, the Swiss women were about to go one better. Despite a clear advantage in chances for the Czech team, the hosts twice took a two-goal lead. However, a goal conceded shortly before and another directly after the second break led to a 3:3 draw.
In the penalty shoot-out, Kristyna Kaltounkova was the match-winner for the Czech Republic with two converted attempts. Only Alina Marti scored for Switzerland, but failed on her second attempt. Nicole Vallario, Lara Stalder and Alina Müller, and thus the entire first forward line, had provided the Swiss goals in regular time.
At the end of the home tournament, coach Colin Muller's team will face Finland on Saturday (17:00), who have no points.
