National coach Knut Ove Joa's team secured an unchallenged victory in Chieti. After an even start, the Swiss team steadily extended their lead: At the break, the difference was five goals, and eight minutes before the end it was double digits for the first time. The visitors' top scorer was Tabea Schmid with eight goals.

The Swiss women will continue their European Championship qualifying campaign in March 2026 with two clashes against the group favorites from the Netherlands before the second legs against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy in April. The two best teams in the six groups will qualify for the European Championship finals in December 2026 in Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Turkey.

Even before the decision is made in the European Championship qualifiers, a major highlight awaits the Swiss women as they take part in the World Cup for the first time. The tournament, which will be held in Germany and the Netherlands, kicks off on November 27 with a match against Iran.
