The decision in favor of the defending champions from CC Aarau came down to Alina Pätz's last stone, just as it had twelve months earlier. In Aberdeen, the player from Zurich struck a stroke of genius to secure a 6-5 victory and her team's first gold at the continental championships.

In Lohja, the Swiss team took a 4:1 lead with a house of three in the third end. However, the Italians, led by Stefania Constantini and with Elena Mathis from Zurich playing in the second position, immediately managed to reduce the score to 3:4 and equalize with a stolen stone in the ninth end to make it 6:6.

The Swiss are back in action this afternoon. Their opponents will be Lithuania, the only team without points so far.
