Despite leading twice, Switzerland ultimately loses the quarter-final of the U20 World Championship by a clear margin. They were defeated 2:6 by the Czech Republic.
Until halfway through the game in the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, it looked as if the Swiss could pull off a coup. Thanks to goals from Leon Muggli and Jamiro Reber, coach Jan Cadieux's team led 2:1 against the favorites, but then the Swiss conceded three goals in a row between the 31st and 36th minute and were unable to find an answer.
Although the Swiss juniors achieved the minimum target, they failed to make it back into the top four for the first time since 2019. The Czech Republic will face Canada in the semi-finals, while Sweden and Finland will also play each other.
