The Baltic team beat outsiders the Philippines 14:3 in the round of 16. At the home World Championships two years ago, the Swiss beat Latvia 3:1 in the quarter-finals, but ended up without a medal after defeats against the Czech Republic (3:11) and Finland (3:5).
