Switzerland finishes the home tournament in Zurich as part of the Euro Hockey Tour in last place without a win. Coach Patrick Fischer's team is defeated 3:4 n.V. by Finland.

A year ago, the Swiss ended their home curse with a victory in Freiburg and finally celebrated their first victory at a home tournament on the Euro Hockey Tour at the ninth attempt. Such a conciliatory conclusion was denied them this time in Zurich in front of 5422 spectators, despite having more chances. Servettes forward Jesse Puljujärvi scored his second goal of the game 58 seconds into overtime to decide the game in favour of the Finns.

In contrast to the previous games against Sweden (2:3 n.p.) and the Czech Republic (3:5), Switzerland's short-handed play was not convincing this time. The Finns, who started with ten National League players, scored the goals for 2:1 (20th) and 3:1 (27th) with one man more.

The first two Swiss goals by Sven Andrighetto (1:1) and Dario Simion (2:3) were also scored in the powerplay. After a long unsuccessful run, Gaëtan Haas saved Switzerland with the 3:3 equalizer just over two minutes before the end of regulation time.

The Swiss won their first clash of the season against the Finns 3:1 with a "B selection" in November. Since then, they have lost five games in a row.

This marks a sobering end to 2025 for the national team after reaching the World Cup final again in May. The next international match is exactly two months away. The Swiss will then begin the Olympic tournament in Milan against France. Patrick Fischer has to announce his 25-man squad to the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF by the end of the year.
