Switzerland finishes the European Team Championships in Madrid in a good 10th place. The Swiss Athletics team thus achieved its goal of improving on its 12th place from two years ago in Poland.

The best individual results on the fourth and final day of competition came from Dominic Lobalu in second place in the 5000 m (13:45.37) and Annik Kälin in fourth place in the long jump (6.78 m). The outstanding performances of the Swiss team at the European Championships were the discipline victories in the hurdles sprint by Ditaji Kambundji and Jason Joseph, who each scored 16 points for the overall standings.

The next European Team Championships will take place in 2027. Switzerland will compete there for the third time in a row in the 1st division with the best 16 nations in Europe.
