The Swiss national team is still bottom of the table after half of the World Cup qualifiers. It lost its away game against Bosnia-Herzegovina 60:84.

The clash between the two still winless teams in Group C was groundbreaking: the dream of the 2027 World Cup in Qatar would come to an abrupt end for the team finishing bottom of the group. This prospect seemed to paralyze the Swiss. The visitors fell behind early on and were already 14 points behind at the break. A burden that ultimately weighed too heavily. Switzerland did not manage to bring any excitement back into the game with a comeback.

After the third defeat in the third game, there is now a lot to be said against Switzerland. The team must win clearly in the "second leg" in Kriens on Monday to keep their hopes of participating in the World Cup alive.

A clear disadvantage: the Swiss national team will have to make do without coach Ilias Papatheodorou in the two decisive games against Bosnia-Herzegovina. His club Maroussi BC refused to give him the go-ahead for the current international window. In his absence, assistant Dimitris Menoudakos will take on the role of head coach.
