Swiss colors are not represented on the podium at the CSIO Grand Prix. In the saddle on Long John Silver, Géraldine Straumann achieved the best result in sixth place with a measured risk.
Victory in the 500,000 euro competition went to Great Britain's Scott Brash with Hello Jefferson. 16 pairs, including six Swiss duos, made it through to the jump-off. Steve Guerdat, Nadja Peter Steiner and Janika Sprunger went on the attack, sometimes setting the fastest time before making a mistake.
Martin Fuchs on Commissar Pezi clearly missed out on successfully defending his title with two faults in the normal course. This ended a series of podium finishes for the Zurich rider in St. Gallen following his victories in 2022 and 2024 and second place in 2023.
Nadja Peter Steiner with Mila and Guerdat on Dynamix, who had secured third place for Switzerland in the Nations' Cup on Friday with two clear rounds each, also remained clear in the normal course on Sunday. Guerdat was on his way to victory on his Olympic horse in the jump-off before a knockdown at an oxer. It would have been his 29th victory in a Grand Prix over 160 m and higher. Nadja Peter Steiner and her mare only missed out on a possible victory at the last fence. Janika Sprunger and Orelie also only had to accept four penalty points on the last jump.
Scott Brash is a worthy winner. The Brit is known as "Mister Grand Slam". He won the three consecutive main competitions at the CHI Geneva 2014, CHIO Aachen 2015 and Spruce Meadows Calgary 2015 on Hello Sanctos. In St. Gallen, he won for the first time after finishing second in 2021. His gelding Hello Jefferson is already 16 years old, but still in top form.
