Tadej Pogacar, the undisputed number 1 road racing cyclist, will not take part in the Giro d'Italia this year.

Mauro Gianetti, the sports director of UAE Team Emirates, confirmed this assumption to "L'Equipe".

This would pave the way for the Slovenian to be crowned champion of the Vuelta for the first time in 2025. In 2024, Pogacar won the Giro and the Tour de France, but skipped the Olympic Games and the Tour of Spain in view of the World Championships in Zurich. It is not yet clear whether Pogacar will ride the Vuelta as well as the Tour de France.
