Team Aarau and skip Silvana Tirinzoni surprisingly miss out on the final at the Swiss Championships in Bern. The European champions were defeated in the semi-finals by Zug with skip Corrie Hürlimann.

The team from Aarau, where Tirinzoni and Alina Pätz were world champions four times and runners-up once between 2019 and 2024, had won all five games in the preliminary round. When it came to reaching the final, however, their nerves failed them. They were defeated in turn by GC Zurich with skip Xenia Schwaller and Zug, who are now playing for the title.

However, Tirinzoni and Co.'s elimination from the SM has no effect on their participation in the World Championships. The team was already selected in mid-December for the World Championships in South Korea, which begin in mid-March.

The favorite in the men's event also had to take a detour. Team Geneva with skip Yannick Schwaller beat Oberwallis with skip Kim Schwaller 7:5 after an extra end and thus followed Glarus (skip Marco Hösli) into the final.
