Jil Teichmann (WTA 128) seizes her chance at the WTA 250 tournament in Singapore and celebrates a rare success.
As a qualifier, the left-hander advanced to the quarter-finals with a never-threatened 6:4, 6:4 victory over Australian Olivia Gadecki (WTA 107). There she will face the Chinese number 4 seed Wang Xinyu (WTA 35).
Teichmann won two matches in a row at WTA level for the first time since July 2023 (in Iasi). Last October, she also reached the quarter-finals in Merida, but benefited from a forfeit. The 27-year-old from Zealand lost her only previous match against Wang in two sets a year and a half ago in Osaka.
