The SCL Tigers reach the playoffs for the third time in the club's history after 2011 and 2019. The Langnau team relegated EHC Kloten to the hopeful round with a 4-3 aggregate score.

Kloten won the second leg 2-1, but that was not enough after Tuesday's 3-1 loss in Langnau. Vili Saarijärvi scored the "golden goal" for the SCL Tigers in the 48th minute to make it 1-2. Kloten should have had a much bigger lead at that point.

However, the Kloten team failed due to their own inability and Langnau goalie Luca Boltshauser. Boltshauser is only playing in this most important phase of the championship because Stéphane Charlin is still convalescing after his injury.

Boltshauser, Langnau's number 1 next season, was constantly at the center of attention in Kloten. At 0:2 he let himself be caught below value. But he also saved 40 shots (!) and achieved a save percentage of 95.24 percent. These are figures that Stéphane Charlin has also regularly delivered this season.

Like 2011 and 2019

Langnau rewarded itself immensely for a very mixed performance in the final period. The Tigers wanted to grind out the 3:1 from the home game. They also acted clumsily in the process. Dario Allenspach and Sean Malone took stupid two-minute penalties in the offensive zone. Kloten took advantage of Allenspach's exclusion to make it 2:0 through Niko Ojamäki. The penalty against Malone was Kloten's last chance to turn the series in a different direction.

The SCL Tigers are in the playoff quarter-finals for the third time after 2011 (under John Fust) and 2019 (under Heinz Ehlers). They have never won a series. But Thierry Paterlini has now also created a small monument to himself as coach with the quarter-finals in Emmental.
