The SCL Tigers force the belle against the qualification winner. The Emmentalers win Game 6 against Lausanne 3:2 and earn the chance to make a historic semi-final appearance on Tuesday.

So far, the clash between Lausanne and the SCL Tigers has not been the series of the away teams. That didn't change on Sunday evening. The team from Langnau came out on top against Lausanne 3:2, giving them the chance to pull off a major coup and qualify for the semi-finals of the National League playoffs - something the village club has never managed to do before.

The fact that Thierry Paterlini's team could not be defeated in the third game in the once again sold-out Langnau Arena was thanks to a strong start by the SCL. Saku Mäenalanen and Oskars Lapinskis sent the majority of the 6,000 fans into ecstasy after just two minutes of play when they beat Kevin Pasche twice in the LHC goal.

Although Geoff Ward's team managed to tie the game four seconds before the first intermission through Aurélien Marti, Stéphane Charlin in the Tigers' goal was not to be beaten for a long time. The Geneva native, who had replaced the injured Luca Boltshauser late on Friday, played his first playoff game from the start - and the MVP of the season was convincing.

Once Damien Riat had beaten him a second time, Lausanne only had 35 seconds left for a comeback, which had become necessary after Flavio Schmutz had restored the home team's two-goal lead ten minutes before the end.

Overall, however, Lausanne played far too passively against a defiant Langnau team, which could now take its revenge if the series of home victories in the all-important Game 7 on Tuesday is snapped after all.
