The World Rowing Championships will return to Lucerne in 2027 after 26 years.
The Swiss bid from Lucerne Regatta and the Swiss Rowing Association was clearly awarded the contract on Saturday with 80:17 votes. It prevailed against Varese, Seville and Bled in Slovenia.
The 2027 World Championships will be the fifth on Lake Rotsee after 1962, 1974, 1982 and 2001. It will take place from August 16 to 29 and will also include the para-disciplines.
