Athletics

To round off the competitions, the women's marathon is on the program on Sunday morning. With Fabienne Schlumpf and Helen Bekele, two Swiss women will also tackle the 42.195 km at 8.00 am. Schlumpf will be running under the sign of the five rings for the third time; three years ago in Tokyo, the Zurich native finished a good twelfth. Bekele, who was naturalized in March, has only been competing for Switzerland for a few months.

Modern pentathlon

One day after Alexandre Dällenbach, Anna Jurt also qualified for the final of the Olympic modern pentathlon. After a mixed start on Thursday with an intermediate 17th place in fencing, Jurt was able to improve in the four disciplines on Saturday. In the end, the 22-year-old from Nidwalden came 9th in her semi-final series, which was just enough to progress. The women's medals will be up for grabs shortly after midday on Sunday.

Track cycling

Aline Seitz is the last Swiss athlete to compete at these Summer Games. The athlete from Aargau will compete in the omnium eventing competition at the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. The medal decision in the final points race will be made at around 2 pm.

Team sports

In the team sports, there are still numerous finals to be played on the final day. In handball, the German men would like to crown their fairytale with their second Olympic victory after the GDR in Moscow in 1980. After their dramatic progress in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, however, they will once again not be the favorites against Denmark. The Danes won the gold medal in Rio in 2016 and have been world champions three times in the last five years.

Basketball

The last of the 329 medal sets will be awarded in the women's basketball final. The USA and hosts France will duel for the last gold medal at the Games in Paris from 3.30 pm. The Americans have been unbeaten at the Summer Games for 58 years and are the clear favorites going into the final.

Closing ceremony

The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games will begin at 9.00 pm in the Stade de France 16 days after the opening ceremony. The organizers will hand over the Olympic flag to representatives from Los Angeles, where the 2028 Summer Games will be held.
