The 2022 World Championship silver medallists now have a negative record of two wins and three defeats after five of nine games in the round robin. To qualify for the knockout phase, Pätz/Michel must make it into the top three teams in their group of ten.
The pair, who are also a couple in life, will continue on Wednesday night with a clash against Spain, who are still winless.
