Spectators at the Athletissima will have to do without a treat on Wednesday. Olympic silver medallist Kishane Thompson will not be competing in the 100m duel against Olympic champion Noah Lyles.
The sprinter from Jamaica explained his decision with an inflammation in his shin, as the organizers announced. Last Saturday in Chorzow, Poland, Thompson successfully took revenge for Paris 2024 in their first meeting since the Olympic Games, beating Lyles in 9.87 seconds.
Thompson's management has announced that the sprinter will also not compete at Weltklasse Zürich at the end of August. The World Championship final in Tokyo is scheduled for Sunday, September 14.
