Two-time time trial world champion Filippo Ganna from Italy wins the first stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico stage race.
In the battle against the clock over 11.5 km, he took at least 22 seconds off all his rivals. Jan Christen, the best Swiss rider, lost 39 seconds.
At the end of the week-long tour, the 32-year-old Ganna will not be among the front runners. The upcoming stages of the "Race between the Seas" are too demanding for that. The favorites are the Mexican Isaac Del Toro or the Slovenian Primoz Roglic.
