Two Superfinal newcomers challenge the defending champions

The roles are clearly defined ahead of Saturday's super final in the BCF Arena in Fribourg. In the women's and men's competitions, the defending champions will face opponents who are competing for the first time on the most important match day in Swiss floorball.

Qualification winners against champions

Two worlds meet in the women's competition: the Wizards Bern-Burgdorf play against the Kloten-Dietlikon Jets. While Bern-Burgdorf reached the Super Final for the first time in the club's history, the Jets are the undisputed champions: no other team has won the Super Final since 2019.

What speaks in favor of the Wizards, however, is that the team finished the qualifiers in 1st place, while Kloten Dietlikon finished in 3rd place. What's more, the team from Bern have only lost three games this season, two of them in overtime. The two duels against the Jets resulted in two victories.

In theory, everything seems set for a new women's champion. It remains to be seen whether Bern-Burgdorf can withstand the pressure in its first super final or whether the Jets' routine will win out in the end.

Can Rychenberg pull off the coup?

The men's team has not been so clearly dominant in recent years - but at least superior. Zug United has blossomed into a top team and won the last two Superfinals. Now, as in the women's competition, Rychenberg Winterthur awaits, a team that has never made it to the final before.

Rychenberg made it into the playoffs in seventh place in qualifying. However, the team coached by iconic coach Philippe Soutter, who stepped down after the Superfinal, managed to impress in the playoffs. In the semi-finals, they defeated record champions Wiler-Ersigen, who had won the qualifiers.

HCR had already reached the play-off final three times in the past - in 1992, 1993 and 2010 - but had to settle for second place on three occasions. Rychenberg is the only club in Switzerland to have always played in the top division since the first championship in 1984.

Whether Rychenberg Winterthur will now ennoble this history with Switzerland's biggest title or whether Zug United will achieve the title hat-trick will be clarified on Saturday afternoon following the women's game.

Logistical masterpiece overnight

The matches will be played at the Fribourg Ice Hockey Arena. As the fourth final game of the ice hockey play-offs between Fribourg-Gottéron and HC Davos was played there the evening before, extensive overnight conversion work was necessary to transform the ice surface into a floorball pitch.
