Former Australian tennis star Fred Stolle has died at the age of 86. Tennis Australia paid tribute to the two-time Grand Slam winner as a national and international "icon".
Stolle was part of the golden era of Australians in the sixties around Rod Laver and Roy Emerson. In addition to his victories at the French Open in 1965 and the US Open in 1966, he also won the Davis Cup three times. After his career, he worked as a coach and TV commentator.
