With US President Donald Trump as mediator, cooperation between the rival golf tours is moving closer.
"Thanks to President Trump's leadership, we have initiated a discussion on the reunification of golf," the PGA Tour announced.
At a meeting at the White House, PGA CEO Jay Monahan and player-directors Tiger Woods and Adam Scott met with Trump and Yasir Al-Rumayyan from the Saudi Arabian state investment fund PIF. "We are determined to move forward as quickly as possible. Most importantly, we all want the best players in the world to play together more often. We will do everything we can to deliver this outcome for our fans," the statement continued.
Talks between the US PGA Tour, the European DP World Tour and the Saudi Arabian-funded LIV Tour have been ongoing since June 2023, when the three tours signed a framework agreement. However, there have been no concrete results to date.
Trump is an avid golfer who owns several golf courses and has hosted tournaments.
