Ponti lost just under four seconds on the Swiss record from last spring. The semi-finals, in which Ilan Gagnebin is also allowed to compete, are scheduled for Saturday evening for the Ticino and French-speaking Swiss swimmer, while Ponti should be able to win another medal in the final on Sunday evening.

Vanna Djakovic needed just 16:15.73 minutes for the 1500 m crawl. She lowered her Swiss record (16:19.47) significantly, but will still miss the final of the top 8 in twelfth place. The cut was 16:08.41 minutes.

Switzerland is represented in the semi-finals of both the men's and women's 50 m backstroke on Saturday evening. 25-year-old Thierry Bollin secured his place in the semi-finals by finishing 12th in the heats. With a time of 23.39 seconds, he was over six tenths faster than the national record he had set a year ago.

Angelina Patt, who turned 20 on Friday, finished 15th overall in the preliminary heats with a time of 27.09 seconds. The SC Uster athlete was thus twelve hundredths above her Swiss record, which she set in mid-November at the Swiss Short Course Championships as the starting swimmer of her club's relay team.
