The initially close match against the Dutch women tipped in the Bernese side's favor towards the end of the first set. They were extremely focused during this phase, played flawlessly and waited patiently for their opponents to make a mistake. The latter then hit a smash out on the third set point.

The only Swiss women's duo left in the table had won their first two group matches and thus qualified directly for the round of 16, while the Dutch women still had to play the 1/16 finals on Thursday.

The Vergé-Dépré sisters had both already stood on the podium at a European Championship. Anouk won gold in 2020 with Joana Heidrich, Zoé won bronze alongside Esmée Böbner in 2024.
