The newly formed Swiss beach volleyball duo Anouk and Zoé Vergé-Dépré are through to the last 16 at the Elite16 tournament in Saquarema. They beat Monika Pailikiene/Aine Raupelyte in three sets.

In their first tournament together, the Vergé-Dépré siblings responded to their opening defeat against the local Brazilians Andressa/Taina (19:21, 19:21). With a two-set win against Niina Ahtiainen/Taru Lahti from Finland, they qualified for the knockout round at the tournament south of the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, where they struggled against Monika Pailikiene/Aine Raupelyte from Lithuania, but prevailed 21:10, 18:21, 16:14.

"Team Zouk", as the sibling duo call themselves, will face the still undefeated American duo Kristen Nuss/Taryn Brasher in the round of 16 on Saturday night.
