Anouk and Zoé Vergé-Dépré go straight through to the round of 16 at the European Beach Volleyball Championships in Düsseldorf. After their second win in a row, they are spared the intermediate round.
In the duel between the two winning duos in the first round of Group C, the Vergé-Dépré sisters won 21:18, 22:24, 15:10 against the Germans Sandra Ittlinger and Anna-Lena Grüne. The two Swiss women never trailed in the short decider after they were ultimately not rewarded for their fightback in set 2. The Vergé-Déprés had already emerged victorious in this duel at the Elite 16 tournament in Gstaad at the beginning of July.
Two-time European champion Tanja Hüberli and her new partner Leona Kernen, on the other hand, will have to compete again in the 1/16 finals. They lost the duel between the two successful teams on Wednesday 19:21, 12:21 against the Latvians Tina Graudina/Anastasija Samoilowa, who had advanced to the final in Gstaad.
