- Fabian Staudenmann and Marcel Räbsamen hoped for victory right to the end. The two fought a spectacular duel in the 4th course, which ended with a defeat to the applause of the audience.

Matthias Aeschbacher is the outstanding man at Schwarzsee. The 33-year-old from Bern is unstoppable at the prestigious Bergkranzfest. He wins his 16th wreath festival in total, his first this year.
After being defeated by Samir Leuppi from north-eastern Switzerland in the first round, Aeschbacher wins the second fight against Janik Korrdoi with a flat throw. However, the judges take a different view and award Aeschbacher's victory a 9.75.
The final round participant from the 2022 Swiss National Championships in Pratteln can't believe it. "Are you serious? (...) What more do you want? This is upsetting me," Aeschbacher says to a supervisor behind the judges' desk and throws his head protection to the floor.
Aeschbacher continues to lead with three more victories and after the 5th round actually has to fear for his ticket to the final round. He is tied on points with Bernhard Kämpf in second place. The judges ultimately decide in favor of Aeschbacher as Michael Moser's opponent.
In the final round, Aeschbacher is superior to Moser, who had been outstanding up to that point, and puts his 19-year-old association colleague on his back after just under two minutes. "I knew that I had to go full throttle", says Aeschbacher after his victory on "SRF".
Aeschbacher: "Moser swings better than me"
Aeschbacher and Moser know each other well and have already stood in the sawdust together several times. The 33-year-old praises the young Moser and doesn't want to think of himself as a teacher: "I'm not his teacher. He already swings much better than me."

Nevertheless, Moser finds his champion in Aeschbacher in the final round. Before that, the Emmental native is no match for him. In the 1st round, Moser pushes Mario Schneider from north-eastern Switzerland into the sawdust, followed by two victories against Patrik Feldmann and Patrick Gobeli. In an attractive 4th course, the young Emmentaler finds no recipe against Damian Ott, but is rewarded with a score of 9 for his attacking style. He bags his ticket for the final round with a flat throw against Janik Korrodi.
Staudenmann hopes for victory right to the end
The Bergschwinget Schwarzsee is characterized by bright sunshine and attractive rounds between top-class wrestlers. Fabian Staudenmann and Marcel Räbsamen deliver a spectacle in 4th gear. No feeling out, full throttle from second one. Staudenmann comes very close to victory several times, while the agile Räbsamen gets out of even the most dicey situation and almost brings the top Bernese wrestler down himself in the meantime.
The spectacular fight ends in a stalemate and to the applause of the audience. A score of 9 is the well-deserved reward - but still not enough for the two of them to make it to the final round. However, they can still hope to win the festival.

Their flat throws in 6th gear put them back in the running for victory at Schwarzsee. However, the final round between Moser and Aeschbacher would have had to end in a defeat.
Co-victory at the Aargau Cantonal Championships
Sinisha Lüscher is also lurking for victory at the Aargauer Kantonale - and the 19-year-old actually wins. Because 20-year-old Marius Frank wins the final round against Andres Döbeli, Lüscher and Frank are also celebrating. The two men from Solothurn celebrate their first festival victories as co-winners.
In Menziken, Frank defeats Nick Alpiger, Joel Strebel and Döbeli, three Swiss nationals. Lüscher wins with Alpiger and Lars Voggensperger against two of them.
