Australian Jay Vine wins the first mountain stage of the Vuelta 2025 in Pal in Andorra solo. The red jersey shifts from the shoulders of Jonas Vingegaard to those of Torstein Träen, who finishes second.

Vine left a breakaway group that had a lead of up to six minutes before the finish. As the 29-year-old plays no role in the overall classification, although he is a good climber, the big tenors in the peloton did not allow themselves to be rattled.

The Norwegian Träen now has a few minutes lead over Vingegaard. But the Dane should easily make up this difference in the coming mountain stages.
